What a Day!

A tale of fundraising, family and fresh air by Lucie Hartley – CEO of EDP Drug & Alcohol Services I was counting my blessings this Saturday (February 2nd).  Aside from the 5.30am start, it was a stunning day, I spent the day in a beautiful location in South Devon and my son (Liam) and 3 colleagues (Nathan, Marcus and Graham) were doing a sponsored run for EDP. I’d never heard of the South Devon marathon before.  According to the website it’s a ‘cult classic’ and the first of the Coastal Trails.  It’s described as ‘simultaneously picturesque and punishing’.  Seems...What a Day!

‘This is me’ – how telling your life story honestly is paying dividends for people with complex lives

A simple document which tells a different story from a traditional curriculum vitae is having a huge impact on the job prospects and employability of ex-offenders, substance misusers and people with a range of mental and physical health issues who often feel excluded from the job markets due to societal pre-conceptions. It’s a daunting and often frightening prospect to build a new life with new routines, often away from circles of acquaintances that were responsible for previous harmful behaviours....‘This is me’ – how telling your life story honestly is paying dividends for people with complex lives

2017 Drug Misuse Death Figures

Figures released on the 6th August 2018 by the Office for National Statistics reveal that deaths related to drug misuse in England have fallen, with 2,310 deaths in 2017, compared with 2,386 in 2016 (via Collective Response). EDP are pleased that services like ours nationwide are working hard to prevent these figures rising. However, like Collective Response, we too are aware that these figures only represent overdose deaths, and in reality, even more people are dying from health conditions that have been caused by many years of drug misuse. Below are some of the main points from the report: “The...2017 Drug Misuse Death Figures
