Volunteer with us
Here at EDP, we do things together and we are so grateful to our volunteers for the invaluable role that they play. There are lots of different volunteer roles to choose from, depending both the needs of our service areas and the experience and skills that you can bring. We offer an inclusive and friendly environment and lived experience is welcomed.
You can choose to volunteer in community or prison settings, with our Devon-based service, Together or our Dorset-based service, Reach. Additionally, in Devon we offer the opportunity to participate in Timebanking, a way of earning credits for every hour of your time you give through volunteering. In exchange you’ll receive the time and skills of others. At EDP we wholeheartedly believe in the benefits of building connections in the community and see Timebanking as the perfect way of achieving this.
What sort of volunteer roles are available?
We offer a range of opportunities based on your interests and skills from group work and outdoor leadership to marketing and assessment support. Take a look at the role description for our Recovery Coaches so that you can explore our opportunities more fully.

I decided to get involved in volunteering for HMP Exeter. From day one everyone has made me feel welcome. The team are fantastic in what they do, and really care about their clients. I have learned plenty of new skills, and gained lots of knowledge throughout the past year, and different experiences.
The service that they provide is a very valuable one, offering support, guidance and clinical observations, undertaking assessments and aiming to help each individual client, respective of their own different needs. They truly want the best for each person that they see, and aim to help them in anyway that they can. I have loved my time here, and would recommend volunteering here to others, it certainly is a valuable and rewarding experience.
