Digital Interventions Lead – Substance Misuse 

Location: Flexible Location (ideally able to travel across Dorset as required) 

Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week (part time applications also welcome) 

Salary: £25,871 per annum 

Contract: Fixed Term – March 2023, with a possibility for extension, see below 

EDP Drug and Alcohol Services are a thriving charity providing services across Devon and Dorset, in the community and within prisons. We’re passionate about supporting individuals who face complex issues, including substance misuse, mental ill health, and other harmful, addictive and offending behaviour, to improve their lives.  

We currently have a very exciting new opportunity to join our substance misuse service in Dorset, as a Digital Interventions Lead.

Due to the recent publication of the government’s 10 year drug strategy, and subsequent investment in the sector, this is a brand new position with EDP, so it is a very exciting time to join our team and really shape the services we can offer to our service users. 

As a Digital Interventions Lead, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing new digital pathways for those who access our services in Dorset. During the pandemic we introduced online consultations to meet with those in need during very challenging times, this role is expected to build upon these digital services.   

This opportunity will enable to you identify the needs of our service users and their loved ones for digital interventions.  You will be responsible for providing evidence-based research which will inform our digital strategy, as well as managing a reduced caseload of service users, delivering online interventions, harm reduction and care planning. You will receive support from the managers and Reach teams with all aspects of the role. 

Day to day duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Working autonomously to manage a caseload of our service users, including delivering a range of psychosocial interventions. 
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to undertake ongoing assessments, risk assessments, and appropriate referrals within the community 
  • Creating and publishing digital pathways, sharing best practices with colleagues and partners 
  • Using internal systems to provide reports to evidence success of digital interventions 
  • Working with partnership agencies to ensure continuity of care and support. 
  • Working with EDP Marketing & Communications Team to create story boards and video testimonials of the virtual journey 

Whilst this opportunity is initially a fixed term opportunity until the end of March 2023, this is a chance to evidence the benefits of online interventions and our expectation is that the role will extend or become permanent.

Who we’re looking for: 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making real improvements to the services offered for individuals with substance misuse issues.  You will be positive and recovery focused, with experience and knowledge of substance misuse and recovery.  

In addition you will also have: 

  • Experience or knowledge of how to use digital platforms in creative ways that engage and inform people 
  • Experience managing a caseload, including planning, prioritising and time management 
  • Proficient and/or confident with various IT packages, such as MS Office and other programmes  
  • An understanding of group working, group dynamics and group facilitation 
  • Experience or knowledge of developing strategies, including report writing for different audiences 
  • Excellent communication skills, confident communicating and presenting at all levels and to a diverse group
