The Four Not So Wise Men Run Marathons for Hot Foot
Why spend your weekends relaxing when you could be running up and down cliffs for charity?
In February 2019, The Four Not So Wise Men (Liam, Marcus, Nathan and Graham) will be running an ultra-marathon, marathon, half-marathon and 10k between them to raise money for EDP Drug & Alcohol Services. Amazingly, everything they manage to raise up to £8,000 will be doubled by their employer, global asset management company, Schroders. Liam, Marcus, Nathan and Graham are taking part in the South Devon Coastal Trail series which is recognised as both picturesque and punishing. It involves weaving around technical coastlines before heading inland to tackle a few of the infamous Devon hill and certainly looks like a challenge! Click here to watch the run preview.
Moreover, the Four Not So Wise Men have decided to fundraise for our recovery through social enterprise venture, Hot Foot. Recovery through social enterprise is about inspiring people; helping them to see and believe they can achieve tangible accomplishments. The approach supports people to identify, develop and activate their strength and skills for positive learning, living and giving. Recovery through social enterprise is fundamentally about ‘doing’: that is, supporting people to be involved and engaged in purposeful and enterprising activity and to make changes through this process. Hot Foot Enterprises aims to support those with an offending history to have a positive, prosperous and sustainable future. From a workshop within HMP Dartmoor, they offer a 12 week programme enabling people in prison to create beautiful high quality furniture out of discarded wood and then work with them to develop their skills. EDP has particularly targeted those who are on the ‘unemployed prisoner list’ in order to ensure that they are working with those who find it hard to engage in positive activity.
