New Hidden Gems programmes starting in October

Our Hidden Gems Project, which is for people who are out of work and supports them towards and into employment, is expanding after receiving funding from Devon County Council’s Community Impact Support Scheme.

The project gives people the opportunity to:

  • Undertake the Social Enterprise Qualification (QCF recognised) and/or NOCN qualification
  • Design, make and market craft products
  • Experience real-life work activity
  • Be supported to identify and overcome health and personal barriers to employment
  • Build confidence to engage with employment
  • Gain valuable and transferable skills
  • Be supported to achieve paid employment
  • Acquire new and flexible entrepreneurial skills
  • Develop creative skills
  • Take part in confidence and motivation-building activities

This exciting and creative project has already made a difference to those who have taken part.  One participant said:

“It has motivated me and built my confidence and I have really enjoyed being part of a team. It has also made me realise that I have skills I am developing that I hope to be able to use and aid me in to a role as a supporter. I have not considered this before and it is only through this programme. The support I have been given and the opportunities suggested to me that has made me see my future differently and in a positive way. I am now attending training courses to benefit me and help me to get employment in the future”
