“I am engaging with people and looking for similarities not differences”.

Volunteer

Why I volunteer

I am a Peer Mentor based in the Together (Devon) North hub, where I support in the recovery cafe, attend flourish walks and get involved in creative sessions which are good fun.

I like listening to people and sharing my experience of addiction, recovery and the 12-step fellowship. By helping other people, I find I am helping myself.

Volunteering with Together is different to a social event because I am engaging with people and looking for similarities not differences. As a peer mentor I am relating to others on an equal level, signposting and listening to their stories.
