About the role 

Are you passionate about supporting individuals to make positive changes? 

We currently have three exciting opportunities to join our team as a Criminal Justice Recovery Co-ordinator in our community substance misuse team in Torbay

As a Criminal Justice Recovery Worker, you will provide support to service users with drug and alcohol related issues that have been referred into treatment via criminal justice agencies (prisons, courts, police custody, probation) in the local area, providing comprehensive and ongoing assessment, in-reach and outreach work, recovery planning and ongoing support for substance misuse.   

Day to day duties of our Criminal Justice Recovery Workers include: 

  • Delivering triage and comprehensive strength-based assessments, harm reduction and brief interventions  
  • Delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions (group & 1:1)  
  • Carrying a caseload providing effective key working  
  • Completing prison, court and police custody in-reach work 
  • Completing outreach work 
  • Undertaking joint and partnership working with criminal justice partners 
  • Attending meetings and complete reports 
  • Undertaking collaborative recovery planning and reviews and making appropriate referral/linkage to partnership agencies  
  • Risk assessment and risk management planning  
  • Proactively supporting service users to participate in a range of recovery, psychosocial and support activities  

About you 

We’re looking for Criminal Justice Recovery Workers with a real passion for working in a recovery focused environment with individuals involved in the criminal justice system.    

In addition, you will also have: 

  • A knowledge and understanding of substance misuse and recovery either from professional or lived experience  
  • Experience of managing, planning, and prioritising your own workload, delivering work of a high standard 
  • Knowledge or experience of the criminal justice system and criminal justice agencies (prison, courts, police, probation).  
  • An understanding of safeguarding  
  • An understanding of group working, group dynamics and group facilitation  
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills  
  • The ability to work well in a team environment alongside a range of people and organisations  
  • You’ll be keen to develop professionally and, just as importantly, will have a genuine interest in the understanding of substance misuse problems and a positive recovery focused attitude.
