Hot Foot Enterprises at SERIF Conference
Earlier this month Rod, EDP’s Social Enterprise Development Officer, and Dave, Service Manager at HMP Dartmoor, were invited to speak at the Social Enterprise Research and Innovation Foundation (SERIF) conference in Swindon about our Social Enterprise work in prisons. They gave examples of the work done by Hot Foot Enterprises.
The SERIF conference considered the potential contribution of social enterprise and mutuals to reducing reoffending and to the delivery of the prison reform agenda. The conference event featured presentations from three established (including Hot Foot Enterprises) and one emerging social enterprise.
An extract from Rod and Dave’s presentation have been featured in SERIF’s best practice briefing published recently as working examples of what social enterprise, and in particular social enterprise values, mean in practice. It also features a working definition of social enterprise, especially with the context of the prison and probation service. You can download the briefing here.
“The SERIF conference was a really positive event to attend. Feedback on the day and following the event has confirmed that EDP’s Recovery through Social Enterprise model is creating interest both within the Prison Service and with Third Sector Organisations.”
