Fareshare partner with EDP Christchurch
Our team at EDP Christchurch are now partnering with Fareshare, who takes surplus food, redistributes it around the country where it is used by partner charities to feed those who need it. The team collected their first donation from Tesco Express Barrach Road in Christchurch this week.
Thousands of tonnes of good food from the food industry would otherwise go to waste if not for Fareshare. Their 20 regional centres collect food across the UK from which they distribute the food to over 6000 charities working with those who need it most including children at breakfast clubs, those sleeping rough and women accessing refuges. They also arrange for local partnerships between charities like EDP and Tesco.
The food provided by Fareshare contributes towards 28.6 million meals per year. Find out more about Fareshare at www.fareshare.org.uk.
As a result of the partnership with Fareshare the team have already received bakery items and crisps which will be handed over to those accessing the service. We are really excited about this new partnership and about our involvement in reducing food waste.
