EDP’s Weymouth “Beach Walk”
Following the success of last summer’s beach party, EDP Weymouth embarked on their first “beach walk” of the year, open to all clients across Dorset, staff and support workers (hectic schedules permitting) and rather bravely, all their little canine pals. And some not so little.
As is traditionally British in the height of summer, a dozen of us set off at 1pm on possibly the hottest day of the year, but with a hefty cool breeze and the promise of an ice cream at the end no-one was complaining.
With the scenery and the ever-demanding and entertaining dogs to distract, it was a perfect time to further strengthen the bonds between workers and clients outside of the usual “workshop” environment.
All too quickly we arrived at the mirage of the Oasis Café where, true to her words, Theresa dished out choices of ice cream or cups of tea and coffee, and Janice supplied all the dogs in the Dorset area with tasty treats from a never-ending supply like a pet-friendly Mary Poppins.
I can’t guarantee all of that will happen next time, but I thoroughly recommend it as two hours well spent, in good company – dogs included especially. The more the merrier – you just might want to bring a hat or a dab of sun cream though.
Next Weymouth Beach Walk 22nd June – gather at Weymouth Community Hospital at 12pm. Contact any of the Weymouth team for information.
We look forward to seeing you.
