EDP joins Humankind

Following our announcement of our intention to join Humankind in January we are pleased to announce that today we formally become one organisation as a subsidiary of Humankind.

EDP will retain many of its own processes, systems and brand but together we will focus on addressing health and social inequalities both across the South West and nationally.

As COVID-19 has an impact across the country, including for our service users who are among the most vulnerable in society, we share a firm commitment to ensure that essential services continue to be delivered wherever and however possible.

Penny Blackmore, CEO of EDP, said: “Despite these unsettling times, today is an exciting day in EDP’s thirty-six-year history. We have built up an unparalleled reputation in the drug and alcohol treatment sector in the South West and we are now proud to continue providing an exceptional level of service to our clients, but as part of a wider pioneering health and social care organisation that has really similar values at its heart”.

Paul Townsley, CEO of Humankind, said: “Humankind and EDP have worked collaboratively for several years and recognised that they could have a greater impact for service users by bringing together aspects of their learning, development and resources.

By joining, we will become more sustainable and stronger to the multiple challenges which face our sector. Most importantly together we share an important and fundamental belief; that service users sit at the heart of everything we do.”

The newly expanded organisation will continue to create services and support to meet people’s complex health and social needs, helping them to build healthier lives that have meaning and value for themselves and their families. We support local people to create stronger, better-connected communities.
