EDP Christchurch invited to join Prince’s Trust day out
Becky Robinson, who took part in a Social Work Placement at EDP Christchurch last year, invited a number of those accessing services at EDP Christchurch to join a trip to Hengistbury Head which she was organising in her new role at The Princes Trust. The day was arranged for a group of young people aged 16 to 25 who she is currently working with. She saw the trip as a great way to bring together these young people with those who are being supported by EDP.
The day was a great success with 10 people from EDP Christchurch joining a larger group of young people. One of those who went along on the day trip said that he really appreciated the day and how much he had enjoyed it.
Becky commented about the day: “One of my highlights was working with a group very close to my heart. Whilst in my second year at uni I had a placement with a company called EDP. EDP provides support and services to adults trying to break free from drug and alcohol addictions and also provides support to homeless people. Working with them really opened my eyes, gave me a good understanding of the difficulties, barriers and discrimination faced but above all taught me that addiction can impact anyone. When the team said they would like to work with this group I put them in touch with EDP. We took EDP on a trip to Hengistbury Head for a walk, lunch and some beach time. The impact this has had on EDP is one I will never forget, I have received such positive feedback from the staff passing on the gratitude and thanks of the service users. One service user even wrote a letter expressing his thanks to us all. The fact that he made the effort to actually write a letter speaks volumes of what a day out means to them, and this is exactly why I love Princes Trust and the happiness it can bring to people. Thank you team for organizing this.”
Thanks go to Becky for providing this opportunity for those accessing our EDP Christchurch services.
