Dorset Minibus Outreach Service featured on BBC Solent
Our Dorset Minibus Outreach Service was featured on last Friday’s ‘Breakfast in Dorset’ programme on BBC Radio Solent hosted by Steve Harris.
Charlotte Foot, Travel and Weather presenter for the show, spent the day on our minibus, taking part in an outdoor survival and mindfulness group, meeting those who access our services and speaking with staff member, Martha Bache. The Dorset Minibus Outreach Service enables people who live in rural areas to access support from EDP staff and services.
Martha shared with Charlotte:
“We’ve recently as of January got a minibus which we were really lucky and fortunate to be given some money to be able to purchase. Our minibus was completely full, there were no spaces today driving out here which was brilliant because that’s one of the biggest groups we’ve seen in North Dorset for a while.”
One person accessing the service told Charlotte:
“The staff are quite friendly. They don’t judge you and that. You feel that you can come out here now and do these extra things on the minibus and more people are coming. It’s encouraging more people to come which is a good thing… Having the minibus at the minute is really ideal especially for in a rural area where there doesn’t seem to be a lot going on to help people.”
