Christchurch Rotary Support our Dorset Street Homeless Outreach Team
Thanks go to Christchurch Rotary who donated £1,000 to EDP Dorset’s Street Homeless Outreach Team (SHOT) from their Christmas collections.
Kerry Mellor, EDP’s team leader for SHOT, shared information about our work with those sleeping rough in Dorset and in particular in Christchurch at the groups latest meeting on 24th January.
She spoke about homelessness in the area making those present aware of the problem within Christchurch. Whilst at the meeting Kerry was presented with a cheque for £1,000 by President Richard Reader from their collections which took place from 16th to 20th December outside Waitrose and Sainsburys.
President Richard Reader said
“Kerry’s talk on the problem of homelessness locally was lucid and delivered with feeling, bringing in her personal experiences to make the issues real to us all. The good number of questions was a measure of the amount of interest that she had aroused, and I know that all our members felt that our contribution to EDP funds is going to a really worthwhile cause.”
EDP are very grateful for the support from Christchurch Rotary which will enable the SHOT team to offer support to more people sleeping rough in the county.
