Beyond November attend exciting event

Volunteers from our Hidden Gems project ‘Beyond November’, Bryan and Steve, recently were invited to support the Royal British Legion (RBL) in Devon at an exciting event for the organisation. They attended the formal signing of an Affiliation agreement between the RBL and Bickleigh Royal Marine Stable. Both Bryan and Steve were extremely proud to be part of the event and were invited to be guests of 42 Commando for a tour of the base and a chance to meet serving Royal Marines. Hidden Gems helping break down barriers and get people started

Our exciting Hidden Gems programme in Exeter continues to support people towards and into employment – here is a quick update of all it’s latest news: Making Hidden Gems accessible One of our new participants has a dog which couldn’t be left at home and so the Hidden Gems participants located a covered area at the factory to put a kennel and are now building a new home for his dog when he comes to take part in the programme.  The plans for the kennel are starting to shape up and we’ll have some pictures on our Facebook page...Hidden Gems helping break down barriers and get people started

Let’s Get Crafty at Weymouth

Chris, a service user and talented artist, leads our ‘Lets Get Crafty’ group. With so much information on display for clients, and so many noticeboards, we wondered whether the most important messages each week were getting through. We decided to dedicate one noticeboard to the key themes of the week or month and set the ‘Let’s Get Crafty group’ to make it a bit more eye-catching. It’s safe to say they did just that. Finding Hidden Gems in Bideford

EDP Drug & Alcohol Services has received funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All grant scheme to develop its innovative programme Hidden Gems in Bideford. Hidden Gems supports people who are out of work towards and into employment to develop and build employment skills. Over the course of the programme those who take part learn how to design, make and sell jewellery and other handcrafted products from recycled and reclaimed metals. Hidden Gems Day Out

Participants taking part in Hidden Gems took a day out from jewellery making to be inspired and to find some possible new sales outlets. They started the day at the Pavilions who are interested in displaying some of the jewellery Hidden Gems makes. From here they visited the Words and Pictures Gallery, which sell local producers work, and then onto the Teignmouth Arts Action Group arts and community centre. The group looked at their current exhibition of local art work. In the afternoon they visited Four Abilities, who already sell some Hidden Gems products. HMP Exeter Team take time out

In a rare chance to meet outside of the prison as a team staff from HMP Exeter spent some time together for a team building day on Exeter Quay. One of the team shares their experience of the day. On Wednesday something of June we took a trip to the  Waterfront restaurant on Exeter Quay to enjoy a pizza buffet lunch followed by an ice cream extravaganza! This was enjoyed by all and the atmosphere was happy and chilled. We had a section of the restaurant to ourselves which quickly became filled with chatting and laughter. What a difference a year makes! Our Swanage Allotment is blooming!

Last summer, with the help of James Smith Funerals, we began a community allotment in Swanage. The idea behind the project is to give people a space to learn about growing their own fruit and veg.   It took quite a while to clear the space last year and its only now a year on that we are really seeing the allotment come to life. Thanks to all those who have spent time getting the allotment ready and keeping it maintained, especially Malcolm! The food grown on the Swanage allotment will be used at EDP Swanage’s sober suppers or...What a difference a year makes! Our Swanage Allotment is blooming!

Fareshare partner with EDP Christchurch

Our team at EDP Christchurch are now partnering with Fareshare, who takes surplus food, redistributes it around the country where it is used by partner charities to feed those who need it.
