Active RISE extends to offer Yoga

Following Active RISE’s Badminton and Football weekly sessions the partnership between RISE, Exeter City FC and Active Devon are now able to offer Yoga sessions commencing this Thursday between 6pm and 7.30pm at The Grecian Centre, Exeter City FC, St James Park, Exeter, EX4 6PX. The Yoga sessions are open to those from the recovery, sheltered housing and mental health communities including their families and supporters. They cost £2 to those on benefits or £5 if working. New partnership encourages healthier life style choices

EDP would like to announce an exciting new partnership with local running organisation City Runs which aims to encourage healthier lifestyle choices. EDP will become the charity partner for City Run’s upcoming summer races including the Run Exe Summer 5k Series and Exeter 10k on Wednesday 29th July. City Runs, based in Exeter, are an organisation that is about all things running. They organise events, share local running news via their website and offer coaching, consultancy, event supplies and more. Badminton and Football sessions in Exeter now started

Due to a new partnership between RISE, Active Devon and Exeter City FC Badminton and Football sessions are being offered to those within the recovery, mental health and sheltered housing communities. This includes supporters and families of these groups. Badminton is being offered every Wednesday and football is being offered every Friday between 2pm and 3pm at Clifton Hill Leisure Centre. You can just turn up on the day with all equipment being provided and it costs only 50p per player. Please note that participants must be over 16. New ROC Recovery Cafe in Exeter

A new evening recovery cafe is being launched in July in Exeter on Thursday evenings and a meeting to plan the cafes will be taking place tomorrow evening (Thursday 11th June) between 7 and 9pm at the Well Cafe, Riverside Church, Exeter. This will be a chance to plan how the cafe will be run and an opportunity to recruit volunteers, throw in ideas and share resources. The main intention of the cafe is that it will be an opportunity for people who wish to engage in or enhance their recovery from problematic drug/alcohol use. RISE Summer Fete – 11th July

  RISE Exeter are holding their summer fete ‘Fun in the Sun’ on Saturday 11th July between 12pm and 3pm to raise funds for their new recovery cafe. The event will take place at Uplands Business Centre, 81 Heavitree Road, Devon, Exeter, EX1 2LX. The fete will feature a jumble sale, cake sale, book stall, raffle, BBQ, face painting, live music and a tug of war. Family and Carers Service launched at HMPYOI Portland

EDP Drug & Alcohol Services (EDP) and HMPYOI Portland have launched a new partnership service for friends and families visiting prisoners at Portland prison. The Other Side of Addiction starts next week

  EDP’s ‘The Other Side of Addiction’ exhibition opens in less than a week’s time. We’ve been working hard to collect creative work all looking at the issue of Stigma and getting it ready for you to come and see it. It will open next Wednesday 27th May in the Walkway Gallery at Exeter Phoenix, Gandy Street, Exeter, EX4 3LS. You can view the exhibition between 10am and 5.30pm until Saturday 27th June. The aim of the exhibition is to challenge the stigma surrounding drug and alcohol misuse. Active Devon and Exeter City FC have confirmed that they will offer those accessing RISE services Badminton and Football groups weekly in Exeter from the beginning of June. Badminton sessions will begin on Wednesday 3 June between 2–3pm. Football sessions will begin on Friday 5 June between 2–3pm. More information will be available here soon.
