Our exciting Hidden Gems programme in Exeter continues to support people towards and into employment – here is a quick update of all it’s latest news: Making Hidden Gems accessible One of our new participants has a dog which couldn’t be left at home and so the Hidden Gems participants located a covered area at the factory to put a kennel and are now building a new home for his dog when he comes to take part in the programme.  The plans for the kennel are starting to shape up and we’ll have some pictures on our Facebook page...Hidden Gems helping break down barriers and get people started

Let’s Get Crafty at Weymouth

Chris, a service user and talented artist, leads our ‘Lets Get Crafty’ group. With so much information on display for clients, and so many noticeboards, we wondered whether the most important messages each week were getting through. We decided to dedicate one noticeboard to the key themes of the week or month and set the ‘Let’s Get Crafty group’ to make it a bit more eye-catching. It’s safe to say they did just that. Exciting events in Weymouth!

Over this summer there has been some really great work carried out by the EDP Weymouth team with more exciting events planned to take place over the next few months.   On 20th July, a yoga taster session was held in response to requests from clients which was very well received and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part. The team are currently looking at creative ways to offer more alternative therapies like this in the future!   On the 5th August ‘Friday Brunch Club’ was launched, a six-week alcohol only group. The club has been a great success and there are already plans in place...Exciting events in Weymouth!

EDP Christchurch invited to join Prince’s Trust day out

Becky Robinson, who took part in a Social Work Placement at EDP Christchurch last year, invited a number of those accessing services at EDP Christchurch to join a trip to Hengistbury Head which she was organising in her new role at The Princes Trust. The day was arranged for a group of young people aged 16 to 25 who she is currently working with. She saw the trip as a great way to bring together these young people with those who are being supported by EDP. Exciting news for EDP Swanage

EDP in Swanage have the pleasure of presenting workshops run by Digital Witness. Digital Witness is an initiative which allows people to explore the art of story telling and build the confidence to begin sharing their own stories. Digital Witness looks at exploring digital literacy as well as improving communication through digital mediums and oral expression. People can use these workshops as a space to share and develop their own story against the backdrop of images that are personal to them.
