Affordable and accessible yoga offered in Dorset
After feedback from those accessing support from EDP Dorset free Vinyasa Flow Yoga sessions are being offered in Wareham, Ferndown and Christchurch. Yoga @EDP aims to provide affordable and accessible yoga session in order to reduce temptation to use alcohol and drugs and also build awareness of participants mind and body. Engaging in the yoga session will increase well being and reduce stress levels.
When people take substances, they’re seeking a certain experience, whether it’s escapist or transcendental or just wanting a different psychological state, to get away from whatever is making them unhappy. Yoga is an alternative. A positive way to generate a change in consciousness that, instead of providing an escape, empowers people with the ability to access a peaceful, restorative inner state that integrates mind, body, and spirit.
Following successful taster sessions over the last month 11 people in Wareham and 10 people in Ferndown have signed up to a 6 week course starting in September where participants will feedback the effect the sessions are having on their recovery.
