New Police Initiative Reduces Reoffending

Devon & Cornwall Police have launched a new initiative allowing those caught for minor offences to pay a smaller fine for attending a course aimed at reducing reoffending.  Where appropriate, people are also referred for further support, for example, if they are experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol.  The scheme is the result of a number of services working in partnership including the police, probation services and fire brigade, and so far trials have proved successful.
